Supplements And Health

Many people, in their desire to attempt to avoid, taking a variety of medications, and worrying about potential side effects, etc, consider using certain supplements, and/ or combination, of these. While many have been used, effectively, for ages, beware of the ones, which make big promises, etc. Remember, most supplements must make a statement, that, the claims made, have not been approved by the FDA, etc, and, while some, are wonderful, others may actually have some side effects, etc, themselves. Remember, if you don’t like, or can’t use, aspirin, you have to stay away, from White Willow Bark, which is a major source of salicylic acid, considered a major component, of aspirin. With that in mind, this article will attempt to briefly consider, examine, review, and discuss, some of the major considerations, as they relate to supplements.

1. Supplements and Vitamins: Simply, because, something is natural or herbal, doesn’t mean, there’s no risk! It is wise, to consider, and carefully, read and understand, lots of literature, especially scientific studies performed, by reputable agencies. Dr. Linus Pauling, the Nobel Prize winner, was a huge believer of Vitamin C, and, even, if, it doesn’t have all the benefits, you seek, it is water – soluble, and your body, only retains, what it needs, and you excrete the rest. Obviously, the safest vitamins, are water – soluble, for obvious reasons. It’s important to realize certain vitamins have side – effects, such as Vitamin C, thinning your blood, etc. Always discuss what you plan to take, with your health practitioner, before embarking on any regimin, to make certain, it’s safe, and right, for you. There have been many claims about the benefits of certain herbs, and, although, there are differences of opinion, some are believed to be safer, and better – studied, than others! We have all heard of herbal supplements, such as Echinacea, Arnica, Feverfew, etc, but, before taking any, do some research, and discuss with a trusted health professional.

2. Homeopathy: In most of the rest of the world, homeopathic medicines are often the first approaches, for many minor, to moderate ailments, etc. These have been, successfully used, for centuries, and, have no known side – effects, or contraindications!

3. Needs, uses, possibilities: Know your needs, and what you are comfortable with, do your research, discuss fully with a professional, and, remember, these are often beneficial as part of an overall, Wellness program, combined with using allopathic mediicines, etc. Obviously, optimum health, deserves, and requires greater study, with an open – mind!

While the United States has one of the most expensive, health treatments, we fall, much lower, in terms of overall health, and well – being! Therefore, doesn’t it make sense, to fully examine, and consider, if there might be a way, to improve the results!
